Our own Wave Rider
We went to "Blue and Orange Madness" tonight, the kick off to Pepperdine's basketball season. It did not begin until 7, so we walked in Alumni park and got some great pictures beforehand. We had to wait until 7, because that is when they started serving free In-N-Out burgers.
The picture of Evelyn surfing may or may not be fake. We had to take her picture there, just like Freddy the dog. He is a neighborhood dog, and has his own business card posed on just the same set up. He is a Wave Rider and professional party guest. His owner got the idea from Paris Hilton. Evelyn and I met him one afternoon on a walk. He has offered to let Freddy appear at her birthday party. We'll see.

A Great Weekend
We had a great weekend. Neil and Mary and Joel (who is 3 weeks younger than Evelyn) came to visit us from Oklahoma. We are so glad they came! Hopefully they had a good time and will encourage others to come visit :) We visited the Ronald Reagan Library, played games, drove through Beverly Hills, walked on Rodeo drive, ate a $1.50 cookie/ice cream sandwich at Diddy Riese by UCLA, drove by Santa Monica Pier and then went to church together on Sunday morning. Evelyn really enjoyed having company! After Neil and Mary left us, we went to our Family Circle (a life group) lunch after church - where one of the ladies made me cupcakes for my birthday. They actually sang happy birthday and had me blow out a candle and everything. That night, there was a package on our door step with a birthday present from the ladies on our S-pad to welcome me to the neighborhood. I felt very special! And to top it all off- I met a friend at Malibu Mommy - n- me who is a beautician and cut my hair yesterday. I was very appreciative.

Raise your hand if you like pumpkins!
Fall is my favorite time of year. Part of that is because Brian and I began dating in the fall - 10 years ago from Monday, October 13, to be exact. We went pumpkin carving on our first date, and it has been a tradition ever since. We might modify the tradition this year to pumpkin coloring or painting so Evelyn can participate too. I went with "Malibu Mommy N Me" to Underwood family farms on Wednesday - a pumpkin patch. I was imagining crisp fall air and Evelyn in long sleeves and overalls for cute pictures. Well - the patch was in Moorpark - inland a ways - and it was hot! We had a good time anyway, made some new friends, and got a few pictures. Evelyn's favorite part of the day was a hayride, and we took home 2 cute pumpkins. We'll have to go back to the farm for berry picking later on.

Pretty girl
Some more pictures posted for her Granny... in her new shoes...in the life jacket she got at the neighborhood "junk trade" (don't worry - she was just trying it on - we know it is too big)...after finger painting...helping Dad play guitar...and at the Cross Creek Park today. It feels like fall today - I like it!
