More Fun with Grandpa and Salvation for Willy the Wave

We had a great week with Grandpa - we miss you already and we appreciate all of your help!

Fun story: We were reading at dinner last night about Jesus being the Good Shepherd from the book of John. Evelyn gets the privilege of asking the first question after the story is finished (to see if we were paying attention) - and she asked Brian who the Good Shepherd was. Brian answered correctly, you'll be glad to know - so we asked her who Jesus took care of as a Good Shepherd. This lead to a discussion of who the sheep were - we talked about how Mommy, Daddy etc were all sheep. She then said, "And so is Willy the Wave!" We had to admit that even Willy the Wave, Pepperdine's mascot, is one of Jesus' sheep

Yesterday, we went to Travel Town museum and Evelyn was thrilled to climb on "a real train!" She had a good time...

The trains were great - and this one was in a shed "just like Thomas."

Evelyn enjoying eating a hard boiled Easter egg...

Grandpa putting Marianne to sleep...

Two great pictures of Evelyn and Grandpa just before evening playtime on the pad - I had to include both of them.

Marianne really likes her bath - she seemed to like it from the beginning. We caught a cute smile a few days ago.

Visit with Grandpa

We have enjoyed Grandpa's visit this past week - Evelyn is having a lot of fun and Marianne is getting to know her Grandpa. Grandpa took care of Evelyn while I went on the Community Bible Study conference, and while I was gone, he and Brian saw Minnie Driver at the park with her son Henry. Evelyn picked up Henry's hat for him and Minnie spoke to Evelyn.

They have been to several parks, and today we went to Point Dume to look for whales - we saw and heard the sea lions but no whale or dolphins were visible today. Tonight we colored Easter eggs. Tomorrow we hope to visit Travel Town.

Here they are with the last of the yellow flowers that cover point dume. The flowers bloom and cover the point during the rainy season.

Marianne at 7 weeks, smiling in Grandpa's arms and showing off her dimple :)

Marianne and I had just returned from Community Bible Study conference in Irvine, and we were glad to be home!

6 weeks!

Marianne is 6 weeks old! She is so smiley now - it is so much fun to have "smiling and cooing" conversations with her. She especially lights up for Evelyn!

Marianne at exactly 6 weeks old in a dress from her Great-Granny Stonestreet.

Here is Evelyn in the same dress at 6 weeks old - she was not happy at the time, so it is hard to compare the two pictures...

This past weekend we went to hunt Easter eggs in Alumni park on campus. The weather was beautiful, and Evelyn is really enjoying hiding and finding eggs with us at the house and outside.

Hello Mom and Dad!

Evelyn is also into blowing dandelion seeds...The cute flower hair clips were a present from her cousin Ty, and she loves wearing them - as several of these pictures will show!

I found one Dad!

Happy girl, she likes to play on her "jungle gym" mat now.

Looking pretty on "the mountain" as she calls it. Lately, I have given Evelyn more freedom to be elsewhere in the house when I am feeding Marianne. If it gets too quiet, I will ask her what she is doing. She will reply, "Anything." (I think she means to say Nothing :)

Growing...

Evelyn helped to give Marianne her first bottle this past weekend...Marianne did not seem to mind (Brian says she drained it!) and Evelyn felt quite grown up! The weather here has been in the 80s - absolutely beautiful. I hope we can be out to enjoy it today!

Hide N Seek

We have set up Marianne's jungle gym - here is who is enjoying it most now...

Smile caught on camera!

We taught Evelyn to play hide n seek last night. She has a blast playing - taking turns hiding and seeking - but she has not quite gotten the idea that when you hide you must actually hide. She got better the more we played - but here is her first and favorite hiding spot - closing her eyes on the couch. Sometimes we caught her posed in the middle of the living room. We had a great time.

Updates

Marianne turned one month on Friday! She weighed in at 9lbs 8oz, 21", the exact same measurements as her big sister at one month. She smiles at us more often, holds her head up briefly, and is awake and alert for longer periods. And the most important accomplishment - she slept for 7 hours last night!! What a girl...

Playing up and down with Papa Fisher

Family pictures are difficult these days...

Sisterly love - don't worry - she is just kissing Marianne.

Marianne spent a lot of time snuggling with Nana.

Showing off her dimple to Papa

And one more of Evelyn - sliding down the hill at the park at the Santa Barbara zoo...

In other news, for those who have been concerned...Mr. Monkey and the doll house Daddy have been found. Apparently they were NOT thrown in the trash. I think Emma cat helped hide Mr. Monkey...

Evelyn

Evelyn has been a big sister for one month...She is adjusting well. I'll post soon with Marianne's one month stats and some more pictures. But here is an update on Evelyn. We were so thankful to have Nana and Papa Fisher here with us last week. Evelyn has been on many outings without Marianne...and here is what she was up to painting the town with Papa Fisher...

We all went to the Santa Barbara Zoo

Hiking on the hills behind our condo...

A rare and beautiful sight from our balcony

At Bluffs park after a rainy morning

This was definitely an outing with Papa and without Mom - Evelyn had a great time and came home soaked but very proud!
