Climbing

Ok, close your eyes and imagine the following... Maybe you shouldn't close your eyes, but you can still imagine. You're faced with a series of thirteen ledges, each as tall as your waist. If you climb up all thirteen ledges, you will be rewarded with a red, spikey ball. Is this climb worth it? If you answered "no" you are obviously not my daughter (and you're probably older than 9 months). Anyway, I have some pictures of her climbing the stairs are her Granny and Grandpa's house. She's really quite efficient at it. To be honest, I think she would climb them even without the motivation of the red spikey ball. We're still working on going down. Currently, she dives face-first of each step, and would probably tumble to the bottom if her parents weren't around...

In other, non-related news, we are planning on getting a cellular phone today (I hear that some people call them "cell-phones" but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet...) Anyway, I think this move is for the best, but I am a little disturbed by it. I guess it will be "our" phone, so I actually don't personally own one myself - that makes it a little better.

Tonight At the Park

Evelyn slid all the way down the slide on her belly "by herself." She needed a little help from Papa Fisher to go down while sitting up. She really enjoyed it!

Nine Months Old - Almost

We took Evelyn's 9 month pictures today - a little early but close enough. They went great - we had just bought her a puppet of Gymbo the clown - whom she recognizes from Gymboree class (Evelyn's Nana bought us Gymboree classes for the summer - Evelyn really enjoys them). Evelyn smiled and smiled...Enjoy!

A picture is worth a thousand words...

But what does this picture say? VBS is going on again this year at the Edmond Church. Every year they do a drama each evening before Bible class. This year it is about Daniel. We went to the first night tonight - Evelyn paid attention to the drama very well - especially when her daddy was on stage. Brian is the messenger to the king this year, and his costume is - well - its interesting. I had to post it for your viewing pleasure. I have never seen Brian in knickerbockers before - and I don't expect to ever again....

Just in Case...

Just in case you tried to mail us anything at our old address...the problem with the post office has now been corrected. Even though we completed the paperwork to forward our mail, we just found out yesterday that they have been sending all of our mail back to sender with the message "moved and left no address." They say..."We're sorry ma'am - this is our fault." I say, "Is there anything we can do about it?" They say, "No. There is no way to find out what mail you have missed...But we're sorry." I guess the apology counts for something...

Pelican Bay

We went to Pelican Bay after work tonight. It was Evelyn's first experience in any pool other than the blow up pool in the backyard. She loved it! She even did a few face dives in the water and thought it was funny!

Earthquake practice?

Well, since we are moving to California we thought it best to be prepared. We spent the 4th of July with the Burns family. We went to the Tulsa zoo on the 5th, and Evelyn thought the earthquake machine simulator was quite fun...

Evelyn had a lot of fun at the zoo and at her Great Grandma Burns' house. She especially enjoyed playing with her cousins Brady and Alex.

Another new fun past time for Evelyn is dancing in the laundry basket. She has discovered that it is fun to scoot and bounce...and scoot and bounce....

Confusion and Delay

I'm beginning to re-think this whole blogging thing. It turns out that blogging can put quite a strain on one's marriage. You see, I enjoy taking slightly amusing stories and embellishing them a little bit for my posts. Well, it turns out that my embellishments can sometimes lead to trouble. In general, I'm trying to poke fun at myself, but it gets misinterpreted by others. So I am making a commitment to be a really useful blogger, and not cause more confusion and delay.

That being said, here's a picture of Evelyn longing to go lay in the back yard with her Nana and Papa.

After a little while, she got really desperate and attempted to eat her way through the window.

Fortunately, no windows were injured in the making of the blog.
