Stats and Other News

As of her check up this morning, Evelyn weighs 22 lbs (25%) and is 33.5" tall (75%).

She is quite proud!

In other news, we are going to Buenos Aires, Argentina on Saturday for one week with Pepperdine. It is a part of Brian's "new faculty" orientation to go to one of their international campuses for 1 week. He will be in class a few hours each day, but the rest of the time we will be sight seeing! Evelyn is not allowed to come, so she will be with her grandparents in Oklahoma. Thank you grandparents!

All About Henri

This semester I have watched one of our neighbor boys, who also goes to church with us, a few hours each week. He is 10 months older than Evelyn, and she loves him very much! Evelyn has learned a lot from Henri, including an appreciation for playing in the dirt and watching for the garbage truck on Monday mornings. He has taught her to play chase and to sing the clean up song. He has even taught her to appreciate singing the Doxology at lunch time, but I am not sure if she thinks we are singing about Henri...we are working on her theology! Evelyn has taught Henri that you can get crackers for using the potty and that baby strollers are fun...

18 Months

We spent Evelyn's 18 month day in Santa Monica. Here she is at the beach near the Santa Monica Pier doing what she does when we tell her to "pose like a ballerina."

Here she is at the carousel at the Santa Monica Pier

Here on the beautiful walkway on Ocean Avenue
On 3rd Street Promenade. You can see her "new shoes." She walks around in them saying "new shoes, new shoes."

And drawing...
Evelyn dear, there is not a word you can't say and you are willing to try most anything. Every day is a delight!

Whats Up Duck

And now, Evelyn's interpretation of Whats Up Duck, a book of opposites.

Interrupted only by her need to get orange kitten, "kitTEN."

"Left Foot, Left Foot, Right Foot, Right"

This title is another children's book - who's got the next line? Can you do it from memory? (we can - thanks Evelyn...)

Here's another quick video montage. Evelyn has taken to dancing, and these are all clips of her showing off her sweet moves.

The video is from three occasions:

Scene #1: Evelyn's Great-Granny and Aunt Audrey sent Evelyn some Easter money to purchase a baby (not a real one). Evelyn quickly fell in love with the Baby, and this video is her dancing with her baby. Mom was at work, so that explains the state of Evelyn's hair.

Scene #2: Easter morning, more dancing with her baby. Evelyn has developed this spinning-squatting-wiggling motion that makes her dances come to life.

Scene #3: Doing the hokey-pokey before bed. This time she dances with her kitten. As you might guess, this song did a great job of winding her down for sleep.

Easter

We had a good Easter Sunday. It was a beautiful day, and we had times of fun, of worship and fellowship.

Evelyn enjoyed the egg hunt before church...

She is serious about eating the goldfish from her egg...

Her new baby, whom she cares for so sweetly, did not go to church with us, so she checked on her as soon as we got home. She does not like to be parted from her baby!

She likes to dance with her baby, and will turn on any of her toys that play music, grab the baby by the arms, and say "dance, dance" It is cute. She also will request that we "sing song" for her baby so that they can dance.

Here she is reading her baby a story. She will read the baby a story and we will sing her a song before the baby goes to sleep on the guest bed for nap or "night night" - whenever I ask Evelyn what we should read or sing about she will say with a smile "Jesus!" So Evelyn is teaching her baby about Jesus! My heart melts!

For the first time in over 12 years...

Brian went to a store, tried on jeans and purchased a pair. He had been wearing the same style Levis for over 12 years. The particular style of Levis he liked has been discontinued for over 5 years. Evelyn helped him pick out the latest. Lets hope they last for several years!

"have a carrot"

I never know what to put down for a title, so I decided to pick a random line from a children's book - anyone recognize the line?

Anyway, I put slapped together (very sloppily) a short montage of home videos. Here's what you can expect:
clip #1 - Evelyn driving a shopping cart. At least she "beeps" before running into things.
clip #2 - Evelyn being a "ballerina" in her new ballerina pajamas.
clip #3 - Evelyn recalling the ultra-exciting hippo sighting at the zoo.
clip #4 - Evelyn talking on the phone with her cousin Ty.

Enjoy!

Highlights from Granny's Visit

Granny came to be with us for a few days - we had a great time and were sad to see her leave today after church!

We had a great time...we went shopping, to multiple parks, and to the LA zoo, where we had great sightings of a hippo, one of Evelyn's favorite words to say, pronounced "heepo." Her potty skills and word skills are growing by leaps and bounds, it is so much fun to watch!

Here are some highlights!

Evelyn is shown here in "big girl" two piece pajamas, which are helpful in going to the potty quickly. These have ballerinas, and she looks quite cute doing a ballerina twirl...

We dyed Easter eggs this weekend with Granny. Evelyn had fun, and she had fun hiding and finding them the next day. A practice run for the big hunt before church next Sunday.

Sleepy on Granny's shoulder...
A family portrait at the zoo

Looking very cute listening to Dad play guitar (Thank you Granny for the cute shirt and thank you, Oklahoma Easter Bunny, for the cute pants!)

Another family portrait - anything for a smile - Evelyn is wearing the cute dress her Titi Esti gave her this Christmas.

Evelyn and Granny

We took Granny out to Point Dume, it was a little chilly that day.

Evelyn loves to play in the sand...After her Dad took her to the beach last weekend to play in the sand she will say "beach beach beach sand sand sand" in hopes we'll go again.

Ahhh...
