Marianne's Room

Her room is ready and waiting for her! Less than a week to go - as long as my check up on Monday goes well the doctor says we will bring her out by Friday! Evelyn is ready, she tells Marianne that she loves her and she told Brian today that we needed to go to the hospital so that we could get Marianne and bring her home. They are still pretty strict about children visiting hospitals in California, but we were told if we had proof of Evelyn's H1N1 vaccination she might be allowed in to see her sister when she is born. We'll give it a try!

For all of those in the snow, we went to the beach this morning. Not to swim, but to make sand castles and to watch all of the surfers and boogie boarders in the huge waves. I am sorry...

New Years Flashback

Just an update from our new years: We were excited to have Nana and Papa come visit us.

Below are several pictures from play time at the park - Evelyn can now do so many things "by herself," including hanging onto this ride! Stay close by Dad!

Digging with Papa Fisher

Showing off 2 ponytails with Nana

She had a little help getting up here...

Swinging before sliding is a regular part of the routine.

And here is one picture from the Rose Bowl Parade on New Years Day. We went with Nana and Papa Fisher. It was fantastic! The pictures we took cannot do the floats justice - they were gorgeous and huge. Evelyn loved it - she sat at attention for 2.5 hours! Quite an accomplishment for a 2 year old!

Look at me!

We just received these adorable dresses from our friends in the Cayman islands - and Evelyn is so proud of her purple dress! The yellow one is for Marianne...Thank you friends!

Evelyn loves to wear dresses - but even in Malibu it is too cold some days for a sun dress - so we compromise by wearing leggings when necessary. She awakens with new hope every day - and when she gets out of bed she will tell me with confidence, "I want to wear a dress. It is not cold today. I don't need to wear pants."

Since we are finished with our year review in video, hopefully more posts to come soon of our new years and pictures of Marianne's room. She is coming soon!

Last Video

Here is the last video, a Christmas theme from '08 and '09 to the Muppets "Bless Us All." A special highlight is the video clip in the middle of Evelyn's performance in the church Christmas reenactment of the birth of Christ. She was supposed to just walk across the stage carrying her animal mask (she was a friendly beast), but you'll note she turns around to stand in the middle to enjoy the limelight a little bit longer...

Fifth Time's a Charm

Alright, guess who picked out the song for this video?

I decided to switch it to black and white to give it that good "old fashioned" feel.

One more thing: you might want to turn up the volume at the end of the song so that you can hear Evelyn's response to the "rhinoceros"

Dancing Video

In case you didn't know, Evelyn likes dancing. So, we compiled this video consisting entirely of her dance moves. I hope you enjoy it!

Video Installment #2

Evelyn's love of princesses was the inspiration for this second video - which is really just a slide sow set to music.

Bonus points if you can name the princess singing the song in 10 seconds or less (5 seconds if you have a 2 year old daughter)

Enjoy!

The Year in Videos

Last year, we started a new tradition: creating a family video reflecting on the past year.

Here is the first song on our family video. The background music is "Before There Was Time" performed by Caedmon's Call. We tried to put together a bit of a 'before and after' theme with this video. It also tells about the news of Marianne. This will be the last year in which Evelyn is the star of the video, next year she will have some competition.

I played a lot with the sound. In some places I was really happy, but in a couple places it sounds pretty choppy - I hope you don't mind.

I'm sure Kim will post soon about our New Years with Nana and Papa and our morning at the Rose Bowl Parade
