I know it has been a while since the last post...Evelyn and I arrived last
monday night and we have been busy. It is beautiful...I look out at the pacific ocean when I am doing dishes. I like our condo. The previous owners did a lot of up grades in the kitchen and closets and put wood laminate all on the ground floor. We have had a few challenges - leaky sink and mess (which the condo people fixed the next day) and our fridge is STILL not working. But my folks are here and we are surviving. Our neighbors are fantastic - a lot of baby boys in our "pad" including 2 brand new twins! Most of our neighbors attend the university church and they have brought us dinner and been kind in every way. Our box count is much lower and we actually have good storage here. But - we don't have bookshelves...so the boxes of books have no where to go...

Today we went to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley with my parents. It is a great place - it was beautiful and very well done.

I'll post pictures of the condo and the view later - but for now here is Evelyn's latest (she took her first steps this week!!)

Movin', Movin', Movin'

"Little boxes on the hillside, little boxes full of ticky-tacky, little boxes, little boxes, little boxes all the same..."

After the movers left, we had 138 boxes stacked in our new home. I will guess that the number will still be above 100 when Kim and Evelyn arrive tomorrow.

If you check out the picture to the right, you will see one box which contains a "sterio-player" and another box containing "misolenias" items. Kids at home, this is why you need to study for that spelling test: so you don't end up packing boxes for a living (not that there's anything wrong with packing boxes for a living...)

In other news, our Fridge still hasn't cooled down. Fortunately, I own a little fridge that I kept in my office, it should do just fine until ours gets fixed. I hope I can convince Kim to call for a repairman, because I hate using the phone.

This Post is for Dad

Some pictures of our girl while Brian is far away. Enjoy!

This first picture was the result of Evelyn's attempt to self feed. She was desperate for control...so we experimented and this was what happened!

"Is mom watching me?"

Proof - Evelyn does have blonde hair!

Just being sweet.

From CA

So

I'm here, at our condo in Malibu. You know, blogging in Malibu isn't nearly as exciting as it sounds. Especially when you still have four more days without your family.

So, the drive was pretty uneventful. Matt went with me, and I way quite thankful to not be driving alone for two days. We stopped for the night in Winslow, Arizona - notice the girl flat-bed Ford in the background. I know that the American Southwest has its own beauty, but I am quite glad that I don't live in the middle of the desert. I mean, the drive along I-40 starts out in the Texas Panhandle, and then gets MORE desolate as you head west.

Strange story from the trip: As you enter California, you are forced into a traffic stop. At this point, you are asked for any fruit or vegetables in your vehicle. It just so happens that my nephew celebrated his second birthday the evening before we left and his party was Slimey themed (For those of you who don't know, Slimey is Oscar the Grouch's pet worm). For the party, my sister stuck Slimey-colored gummy worms onto apples. Well, Matt and I brought some of the leftover apples on our trip. So, I look pull into the traffic stop, grab out the apple, and say "We've got a few apples, but this one seems to have a worm in it..." Not even a smile from the officer as he takes our apples away.

When we got to LA, we checked in the hotel and then got a wild itch to go somewhere, and we ended up in Hollywood. Here are some guys break dancing. They were really quite good, and we left just as they began begging for money.

Ok, I guess I'll leave it at that and make an effort to come back soon and share my thought on Los Angeles, Malibu, and Pepperdine. But, for now I'm going to sleep on the floor (since the moving van shows up tomorrow).
